My interpretation of the las Dolce & Gabbana collection. Vogue.co.uk has some great high resoluted images so you can feast your eyes on the impossible beauty of the lace, which I wanted to portray here.

Gaultier Couture Fall 2010

I really wanted to draw one of those femme fatale style pieces from Jean Paul Gaultiers Fall Couture show, but ultimately the trenchcoat bride with her violin was so fascinating, I couldnt resist.
Isn't she divine?

Lily Cole looked so amazing in this show so I had to choose her for my interpretation!

Balmain rtw Fall/Winter 2010

A collection full of glittery gold as fabric, as embroidery, as sequins .. well in any form you can imagine it on clothes? Of course I love it!!
In many reviews I've read that people are a little tired of the shoulders and suggest Christophe Decarnin should get rid of them already. While I understand where this is coming from - there was a big hype when they were introduced in the Spring 2009 collection and now they are not exactly new anymore. But - to use a really far fetched comparison - this reminds me a bit of how people were disappointed by the special effects in the second Matrix movie because it was just the first movies style refined and could simply not amaze like the first one because it wasn't new anymore and also had been copied in every other movie of that time.
The Balmain shoulders may draw inspiration from the forties or the eighties but are really unique and have created a signature silhouette - They wouldn't have knocked everybody of their feet like they did, if they would have been just a fashion history reference. Everybody knows the unique look of classic Dior Jacket from the New Look collection or the classic Chanel costume, and we expect to see these basic looks on the runway newly interpreted again and again in very different collections - and it is really interesting and fun to see how versatile these shapes really are because they work in so many new styles and concepts. So, why not accept the Balmain shoulder silhouette as the same thing? What do you think?

Christopher Kane rtw Fall 2010

Christopher Kane combines biker style black leather with romantic flower embroidery and what should have been an extreme contrast looks like it was always meant this way. Fantastic!

Prada Fall 2010 rtw

While everybody is still talking about changing the sample size and showing different body types on the runway Miuccia Prada just does it. I loved the graphic prints, the socks and the mad men era-inspired yet very modern look.

Proenza Schouler rtw Fall 2010

I really enjoyed Proenza Schouler, it is a school girl look but not in a naive or lolita way but tough and confident, the models looked like they were in that girl gang even the boys were afraid of.
I also loved the music they picked for the show by the fly girlz.



I've read very different opinions about these shoes, I love them though!

Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2010

Miu Miu Pre-Fall had such a sex kitten vibe I found it appropriate to be a little more racy with my interpretation.

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010

How did you like Gaultier? I liked how he took Mexico as his inspiration and showed a wide palette of very different looks, portraying an interpreting the culture of this country and not simply being satisfied with superficial clichés.
And besides, how can you not love this wicker basket corset?

Valentino Pre-Fall 2010

Valentino Pre-Fall 2010 was so great, I really had a hard time to pick an outfit for my picture. I love how those rather simple, classic and really elegant desings work with the unusual materials like leather and sequin.
The sequin pants where fun to do, actually, even though they took forever!

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2010

the geometric black and white sixties inspired shapes at Givenchy pre-fall 2010 were amazing so I tried to reflct that with this graphic background.

Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2010

Balenciaga pre-fall 2010 was amazing! I loved the roundish square shaped clothes and the colored tights and the shoes look really cool (to bad you cant really see them the way they photographed the models)!
It all reminded me a bit of certain science fiction comic and manga designs, where I always looked at the clothing and thought, hey, that looks really cool, but there is no way any fabric will actually behave like this in reality - apparently I was wrong.

Lanvin Pre-Fall 2010

I love leopard print and Lanvin Pre-Fall 2010 had lots and lots of it! But this suit was my absolute favorite!
And yes, the leopard print in this picture is completely hand drawn by me.
